| There, I said it. If you watched it and did not like it because of the gory scenes you simply should not be going to a zombie movie. The title already indicated that it was not going to be about flowers and pink elephants. Anyway, a zombie movie does not always have to be good entertainment. Most zombie movies with the Hollywood budgets have proved to be weak, in particular the ones which were trying to be too serious about the subject matter. The majority of independent releases have not been much better. This movie, however, is brilliant. You might not like the genre, just do not watch it if that is the case. Sure, some directors might have made gorier or sicker flicks in this genre, but they have never been able to appeal to an audience larger than an obscure sick cult fan-base. This movie makes up for that with high entertainment value and very original scenes and ideas are like nothing you have ever seen on a screen before. While Deathproof got on my nerves at certain moments, since I felt that several scenes were dragging on for too long and the girls did not sound very credible rehearsing Quentin's lines which could ONLY have been made up by a man, Planet Terror does not give you any time to get bored. If you liked Peter Jackson's "Braindead", Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" series or the highly underrated "Idle Hands" you will definitely like this movie. If you liked this movie but haven't yet seen the ones I just mentioned, go see them! |
